Stylus-Controlled Zelda on the DS, did it live up to it's hype?
The game starts out a couple weeks(Or months according to Wiki) after Wind Waker, recapping the events of what happened in Wind Waker. Then, it starts out explaining about Tetra was looking for the "Ghost Ship" that attacked towns and captured their villagers. She thought they were just a bunch of evil pirates so she wanted to teach them a lesson. So after stuff happens, link gets knocked off the ship and goes unconscious. He wakes up on a mysterious island and walks around, meeting up with a fairy called Ciela(Who looks like our old friend Navi) who lost her memory and wants to join link to help her. The first part of the game revolves around saving Fairies from three temples. Then, you pursue the Ghost Ship and do some things but find Tetra is stone(Likeomgnowaihax!). So the old man you meet in the beginning of the game reveals himself as a king of the Ocean and says he fought a monster named Bellium, a gigantic plant that wants to eat everyones life force, but lost so he split himself in two. He created the Phantom Hourglass to allow a hero(That's you) to go into the temple and defeat Bellium. But the only way to beat him is to create a Phantom sword. So after finding out how to make the sword, you venture everywhere to gather the ingredients to make it.
The rest you will find out yourself.
Storyline
Seems very well and a good succession to Wind Waker, but since I have the Japanese version, I didn't really know what it was about till I read guides.

I'll put this into Four parts:
Attacks and moves:Since everything relies on the stylus, you will find out it's pretty hard at first. After a while, the controls will be easier, but you won't master them. Mainly because the controls don't seem really responsive. Like when you do a whirlwind slash once, it will do it twice when you try to move. Rolling is hard to do, because half the time you will end up stabbing instead of rolling, when you don't want to roll but attack, it will make you roll! The items are easy to use and really cool. I especially like the boomerang. The only hard thing to use is the sword because it's strangely non-responsive. The items, however, are really responsive and easy to use.
Ship:Very fun! In the beginning, you can only jump and plot out your map. But when you get your bombs, the fun begins. Monster start appearing every 10-30 seconds so you can shoot them down while you are waiting to get to your destination. There are also bosses on the sea which are very strange to fight(Because you need to keep changing where you want to sail) but really fun when you find out how to kill them.
Puzzles and Dungeons: The Puzzles were pretty easy, except in the Hourglass Temple because you had a strict time limit to do them. The Dungeons, I thought, were too easy ad short. It took me 10 minutes to get through the Temple of Courage(Mid-Game) even in Japanese where I knew nothing about what I was supposed to do, where it would take me 2 hours to get thought a temple, mid-game, in other games because of the complex puzzles.
Bosses: Easy. Because all bosses are beaten with the item you get from the Dungeon, it took me ten seconds to find out where their weak point was and attack them. But the battles are really fun because they involve you to run
everywhere to dodge their attacks. The boss in the Temple of Courage camouflages itself, so on the top screen you can see what he sees so that battle is really innovative.
Rating: 9.0/10 Mini-Games:
Currently, there are two mini-games. I consider the ship a "Mini-Game" because there are tons of things you can shoot, your Claw(You know, the thing that searches underwater for treasure) is its own mini-game and it's really hard but really fun, and mini-bosses(Like a small arcade game). There is also an online game where you can fight against people but I haven't tried that out yet.
Rating: 8.0/10Appeal:
I found the appeal to be the continuation of the "Wind Waker" theme, the stylus-battle controls, the Ship and the items. They were all really fun but frustrating as well.
Rating: 7.5/10Overall
This game is great and fun. If you are a fan of the Zelda series, this is a must get. It intertwines with Wind Waker and has some things from Twilight Princess as well(Like characters and puzzles). If you are a new Zelda player, I suggest you try other Zelda games first, because this game is more a continuation of the Wind Waker series so it wouldn't make much sense unless you played that.
The stylus as the controller was pretty innovative, but it was hard to use the sword with it, rolling was a problem as well but I learned how(Eventually). Normal attacking is really strange because half the time you don't attack like you want to. My favorite part of the battles were the items and the touch-monster-jump-attack.
The ship was a great addition, but can be boring at times because ti takes a good minute or two to get from point A to point B.
Dungeons were too easy but some of the puzzles were very fun. Like drawing the path you want the block you're standing on to move
while solving a puzzle.
I give this game a rating of:
8.5
