Polyphony Digital have announced that the spec 2.0 update for GT5 will be available free of charge on October 11th. A huge set of improvements and new features are to be introduced with it, most noticeably cockpit views for all cars, midrace saves for endurance races, a completely new opening movie and a bunch of 2011 NASCARs as well as the Nissan GT-R that Kazunori Yamauchi drove in the 24h on the NĆ¼rburgring this year.
Spec 2.0 feature overview:
Simplified interior views added to all standard cars.
User control of the weather change feature.
Settings sheet which allows you to save multiple car settings.
New Spec 2.0 opening movie.
Improved UI response and usability.
Replay forward/rewind.
Mid-race save feature for endurance races.
Expanded online lounge features (narrowing down car types, shuffle racesā¦).
Expanded Photo Travel features (you can now take photos of cars together with your avatar).
Added āNASCAR Pit Sceneā stage to Photo Travel.
Added 11 new 2011 NASCAR models.
Added the Nissan GT-R N24 Schulze Motorsport (the car in which Kazunori contested the 2011 Nurburgring 24 Hours).
Improved physics and artificial intelligence.
Support for the Logitech G25/G27 steering wheel.

There are also three DLC packs coming our way sometime after the update, consisting of new cars, new tracks and "racing gear".
Last but not least, in honour of Sebastian VettelĀ“s second F1 world championship accomplished today in Suzuka, Japan every player that logs into GTĀ“s servers within a week from now will receive the Red Bull X2010 as a gift (find it under [GT mode]>[Community]>[Gift])! There is also a new time trial where you can race your new jewel in aforementioned Suzuka and make 5.000.000 credits!
