Hi all, I am a newbie here looking for info on how best to playback videos on an XL. All help is appreciated.
I started my research not knowing anything about video on this machine. I was surprised that it wold not play some kind of standard format video out of the box and more surprised still when it appeared there were no standard commercial slot-1 devices to do so.
My research indicated that that Moonshell was pretty standard, but that it was used on homebrew "flashcarts" ... I am such a newbie I didn't even know they existed. I tried downloading batchdpg and got all sorts of unwanted adware.
So, what is the best way to get videos to play back on a DSXL?? And, where do I get everything I need... without a bunch of malware?
I don't mind converting, as long as I have good quality video and sound, but it would be nice to know the best converter if I have to do so... and where to get it.
Is Moonshell the only or best video playback?
What flashcart is best to run Moonshell on?
Or... is there a flashcart that has video playback capability onboard?
I hope someone out there has tried a few different solutions and can really compare options! Of course, even if you've only tried one, please comment!
I do NOT plan to use any flashcart I buy for gaming... I am really just looking to extend the ability of my DSXL to video.

I recomend Moonshell 2 It runs on every flashcard but you need a dsi compatible one. Moonshell 2 gives you the ability to listen to music, read text and even write, watch videos and view pictures. Overall everything a DSI should be able to without a flashcard.
I think if you download Moonshell 2 from the official site you´ll be given a bunch of tools and one of it is a standart dpg convernter but Im not sure about that since the last time I used Moonshell 2 is 2 years ago. I cant provide a link atm. cuz im in england and im writing this with my 3ds but im sure you find it on your own and if not then wait till saturday then im back home .

Everyplace I go for Moonshell2 seems to either have broken links, or wants me to download a "download manager" or other extra software (malware). I'd be hsppy to pay the developer or whoever if I could just get the software straight up.
I did find a site that had what looked like good info on Moonshell2 compatibility and it looks like it works well with most of the flashcards. But it would still be nice to know which card is the most trouble free.

AK2i works flawlessly. I remember the old R4 working flawlessly. (of course the old R4 doesn't work on a DSi) Probably every card works flawlessly with Moonshell2.
