From experience, Western Digital is usually compatible with most consoles (using mine with a Wii).
I'm not sure of any PS2 homebrew sites, but one might have a compatibility thread (similar to WiiHacks)

I can't see why any hard drive wouldn't work. They're all essentially the same thing anyway.

WD is expensive but good.

It is ill-advised to use any kind of USB loading on the PS2 unless you mean media - backups are to be loaded over SMB or the internal HDD (PS2 Classic with a Network Adapter), so if your aim is using OpenPS2Loader then consider other options.

You must be doing something wrong then. Do you have a PS2 Classic with an adapter or a PS2 Slim? What revision? What method? Are you using complete dumps? Are they clean or patched? OpenPS2Loader or HDLoader? There's a whole procedure, you see.

Loading from USB has a very small compatibility list, lags during fmv due to the painfuly slow speed of the USB slot (1.1 revision of USB) and loads forever, it should only be regarded a last resort or a homebrew-loading method. Describe your issue and answer my questions and I may help you out - buying an external drive for this purpose is equal to throwing your money away when there are better, cheaper alternatives.

I own a ps2 fat and both of my games are clean and patch the purpose of playing games on the hard drive is that I don't really wanna damage my laser since I played burned ps2 games it was working very well but I know that It can break my laser. some of the people got their laser broken even though they burn it correctly and got a good blank disk.

Fine, but what software are you using to load your HDD backups and how did you patch them? Do you also have clean versions of the ISO's or discs you could rip?

Seeing that you haven't replied yet, I'll ask some additional questions:

- Is the drive formatted to a PS2-Compatible format? (Over WinHiip or HDLoader, first being recommended)
- How did you add the games? (Again, over WinHiip or over a HDLServer)
- Are the games properly named? (REGIONCODE_RELEASE.NUMBER.MENUNAME, example: SLUS_008.92.Final Fantasy VIII)
- Is the drive jumper/s set to the Master position when connected to the PS2, and is it set to Slave when connected to the PC?
- Are the ISO's full dumps or are they scrubbed?
- Is the partition set to Primary?
- Is the partition capacity lower or equal to 137GB? Old info, ignore it.

If you instead want to opt for SMB loading, I'll post a guide.
