Hello there. I would like to request help about my DS. What happened is that my "R" shoulder button wasn't working well, so I clamped my lips over it and blew, as suggested on a forum I found. It worked; for an extremely short while. I kept blowing (my DS was in a cupboard and I just found it; this "R" button problem was new) whenever it stopped working. I stopped playing Phantom Hourglass and decided to start a new file on Rune Factory 3, when after I blew on the r button again, the touch screen started to malfunction. For some reason, the touch screen is reacting as if I'm permanently pressing down on the bottom left of the screen. I've never realized how many DS games require the touch screen to function properly. Please help! Thank you very much in advance.
By blowing at the R Button, you're making it worse by introducing moisture to the contacts - it's going to improve the situation slightly for a very limited amount of time and in the long run, it will speed up the oxidation process of the button. There's a guide on how to dismantle and clean the buttons online if the button is completely dead - if it's merely unresponsive, it's probably just dust. Do your best to always use compressed air rather than blow on contacts.
If the touchscreen is malfunctioning in such a fashion, there may be a few causes - the connector ribbon might've been dislodged, a protective screen might be pressing on it too hard, the casing may be pushing down on it, it may be punctured... a lot of variables, all of which you can check by dismantling the system if simple rubbing with a microfibre cloth doesn't do the trick.
Remember, everything you do to the system is your own responsibility and you do it at your own risk - if you don't feel confident enough, send the DS in to Nintendo for repairs or look online for third-party Service Stations. Attempting any repairs without sufficient skill is done at your own peril.

Thank you very much I'm currently reading up on opening my DS and it looks like I don't have the sufficient tools. I'll probably buy 'em tomorrow. Thanks again, not just for giving a good answer but also for replying - didn't expect anybody to.
No protective screen, I think I can see bits of moisture on it; multicoloured, like on a TV screen or something. Which reminds me, once, while I was carelessly cleaning the screen, I believe I added too much water. This, combined with me pressing too hard resulted in water running in. Could this be acting up or something? And also could the moisture from me blowing it possibly be the cause for the constant pressing?
Thanks!

Put your DS in a bowl of (dry) rice for a day or so, it'll suck the moisture right out. Also try the compressed air thing for getting your shoulder button to work.
When cleaning consoles, do your best to use microfibre cloths and a dry, soft toothbrush only. If you're applying water (for cleaning the casing only!), a few drops on the cloth are all you need, but to be honest, for example LCD cleaning fluid is far more desirable here - you really don't want to use water, be sure to keep that moisture away from the insides of the console (I personally use light spirit, normally used for sterilizing small cuts - I always have tons of that so hey!).
The rice trick does work - rice sucks up moisture really well. If no damage was done to the connectors yet, it just might work - if not, you'll have to clean the connectors themselves with strong spirit that won't leave any left-over residue - that means to perfume or whiskey!

Odd. If it becomes really bothersome, it's probably best to send it to Nintendo for repairs, then. Alternatively, you can buy my DSi if you'd like, it's pretty much in perfect condition.
You might want to try re-connecting it, perhaps the connector just got dislodged from the socket or something. Alternatively just buy a spare screen online.
