10 Nov 2013 - no$gba version 2.7b - a22i: prevents unsupported [dest-1] for .pack_lz77 (fixes no$firmware loading) - help: added caution on unsupported [dest-1] for LZ77UnCompVram bios function - sav: support for 1024kbyte and 8192kbyte nds flash save memory (both untested) - sav: dynamically allocates save memory as needed (between 128k and 8192kbyte) - bugfix: hwreset preserves gba/sav media creation date (got destroyed in v2.7a) - nds/help: added more nds cartridge rom IDs and nds flash IDs (thanks jimmsu) - poc/clone: fixed bug in pocketstation bios-clone (added INT_BASE to show_date) - poc/loader: accepts checksum for newly discovered "J110" BIOS version - poc/emu: applies 4x4 pre-zoom (less tiny window, avoid StretchDIBits failure) - poc/help: added notes on BIOS versions (in no$psx help, see there) - poc/help: added POC-XBOO circuit and sample code for xboo TTY debug messages - poc/xboo: tty debug window (ascii characters transferred via FUNC3 feature) - poc/xboo: verify-before-write and skip-if-same (higher lifetime/faster upload) - poc/xboo: pocketstation upload/download memcard and download bios functions - nds/help: added basic notes on special ds carts (infrared, nand, microsd slot) - sound: optional 16bit output (instead of 8bit) (maybe fixes 'noise' problems) - gui/setup: uses asia-compatible TabControl instead of unreliable PropertySheet
The main news is support for bigger FLASH .sav files, which should be important for many newer games (thanks to jimmsu for testing many different ROM/FLASH chip IDs). The new .sav isn't well tested, please let me know if there are any problems, I hope the newer/bigger types will work now, and that the older/smaller types will be still working too (in other words: it may be recommended to backup your .sav/.sna files before testing it).
The other big news is better pocketstation support, though I bet it won't catch much interest. Anyways, with the new poc-xboo parallel port circuit & upload software, it's easy/simple/comfortable to run real hardware tests on that tiny console.
Plus some small details. The options screen should be now displayed properly on asian windows versions. And - that was a surprise - I've discovered a long unnoticed problem in Nintendo's "LZ77" decompression function (the WRAM variant works as it should, but the VRAM variant can fail when decompressing the same data) (somehow that did never cause problems, until recently: my NDS firmware clone stopped working without apparent reason. After some frustating bug hunting I got it tracked it down to 12 years old gba/nds bios glitch).
Oh, the new version does support 8bit and 16bit sound output. Maybe the new 16bit setting will solve "noise problems" in some NDS games; I don't have such games, so I've no idea if it will actually do anything good - please let me know if it does help on the games!
