Long time scene group Legacy have today released the first ever 3DS game dumps. The dumps are 100% complete and are as such perfectly playable. Now, to wait for a flashkit...
Said games are the EUR versions of Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Shadow Wars and Super Monkey Ball 3D. NFO's of the releases will be included below for the moment being, though a new forum will soon be created in which 3DS releases will be posted.
UPDATE: Legacy have dumped a third game, the EUR version of Lego Star Wars III.
What are your thoughts on this? Do you believe this will make other scene groups start dumping 3DS releases as well? When do you think a first flashkit will arrive?
My apologies for the messed up header, it seems to link to the post number instead of the topic number and as such leads to a dead end. It works in the Recent Forum Discussions box, though.
I'll see if I can find a fix.

A question: how do they know that the games are 100% correct and playable? Do they already have a primitive 3ds flashcart or do they erase/rewrite original carts?

Re-write. Designing and coding a new flashcart would take a lot of time, they probably just flush the FLASH chip and then write the dump onto it.
No need to get excited until Asia works out how to run these on new hardware. I doubt this news will change anything in the scene as far as ROM dumping goes as Legacy don't sound interested in sharing information with other groups about their dumper software, and rightly so i guess.
If you remember a similar thing happened with DSi Roms when Legacy showed off their custom dumper. As far as i know there's still no public DSi dumping tools available outside of the elite, and only a couple of groups that can properly dump them. So most of the "scene" that Legacy refer to in the nfos probably wouldn't be able to help dump 3DS games until software is shared as they don't possess the skills needed to create their own. No disrespect intended, that's just the way it is.
If you take that into consideration it could be a while before you see a 3DS scene that extends outside of the elite.
