I don't often pirate, but when I do, it's movies or TV series. And when it's movies, it's stuff you can't buy here anyways. If you can actually buy the movie here, it's one of those that got released all over the world, then had DVD releases all over the world, then half a year later everybody stopped talking about it for a while already and they release the special edition boxsets... and then several months later it's in cinemas in Belgium. A great example of such a film, is Hitchhikers' Guide to the Galaxy. Turned out to be a shitty movie, anyways

I can't wait to download a car.

I pirate. I pirate a lot of things. Music, movies, games, even books. Just because it's free and easy. I only buy stuff that I really like, like my favorite music and favorite games.

Why? Because it's handy.
Movies and TV Shows always come out so late here (or not at all in the case of Game of Thrones) and I hate waiting. So I download and watch. Easy.

Of course, I pirate Applications, stuff I use on a massive scale.
Then there's games. PC, Wii, NDS are all pirated by me. For example, I have a full Nintendo DS collection.

I Pirate even though I feel bad about it now.
When first started pirating I couldn't afford anything. now I only Pirate Music, Movies.
If I want Download a Game I go to steam.
Even Nintendo offers some Games cheaper on the E-shop .
So yeah unless there is a Flashcard I dounbt Im going to pirate games again xD

I tend to use piracy for games as a sort of free rental/trial method.


For big games like a main Zelda title, a MegaMan game, or something that I know I'm going to like, I usually just buy it Day One or have it pre-ordered and paid in full beforehand.

But for the iffy titles, like anime-licensed games, import titles that don't come here, niche RPGs, etc., I tend to download it first to see if I feel that it's worth the investment. In about half the cases, I end up buying the game at retail anyways because it's good enough to warrant the purchase, but still keep the ROM or ISO when I want to mess around with the game using mods or hacks to make things crazy or experiment different builds and ideas.


But that's just me, anyways.


I'd personally love a 3DS flash cart that works like how our DS and DSi carts work, so that I would have the ability to try out the games that I just feel aren't "good" enough to take the plunge for full purchase yet and see if they really are. Or to try out the vast number of import titles that we keep missing out on. *cough Ace Attorney VS Layton, Senran Kagura series, Dragon Ball HEROES, etc cough*

I don't feel bad at all about pirating. That said, I don't pirate that much.
Back when I lived in Argentina, I pirated more games, because they were sometimes difficult to find and way too expensive.
Right now I live in Germany, here getting games is easy and not so expensive, but again, sometimes some games are difficult to find (mostly because of REGION LOCKING).

The thing I most pirate is anime, because it is convenient. You get it in day one and with little hassle.
I like the concept of Crunchyroll and the like, but I must say I don't really use it.

Sometimes I just pirate because I am not certain if the given product will be good for me, and it is too expensive.
If I end up liking a given product, even if expensive, I try to buy it. I don't follow laws exactly but my own concept of morality.

I think that the most important reason for piracy is lack of access. In the shape of unavailability of stock, lack of support of a certain market, REGION LOCKING.
The second relevant reason for piracy might be excessive price for a given product, e.g. in Argentina games are not only difficult to find (short in stock) but their prices tend to be 2 or 3 times the price of a game in Germany. Fortunately, services like Steam and so make things more even lately.

I am not exactly against piracy, but I think if you like something, you should buy it.
If you buy something you like, you are both paying the development of said game and sending a signal to the market saying "make more games like this one".

I used to pirate software all the time, but now I find it tedious and usually just get freeware stuff. Now, I pirate tv shows since I don't watch tv much anymore, sometimes books since Gutenberg has a bunch of nonsense and vidya. I also don't like the idea of spending 20 dollars to go to the movies so I am a cheapo in that regard. While I do buy the belief that electronic piracy isn't tantamount to physical theft, I do not believe it to be some noble thing either. Just people wanting free stuff. I could probably stop and not be affected to any large degree but it's mostly a habit now. Piracy is also responsible for my adequacy with a computer, even way back then I wasn't getting viruses from crack sites like some people do.
