The series is long dead in the west.  Only Japan still makes Wizardry games and you can tell the style is somewhat different from the original ones.  

Really, it's a good metaphor for what happened to rpgs in general.  I'm so glad Japan picked up the torch after the west dropped it.  I don't think there's been any real western RPGs for any system in 5 years or more.  The modern western "rpg" is always at least half fps or action, etc.
