Since bLAStY found an exploit to run homebrew code on a DSi in DS mode, i have been idling the #dsidev channel to see whats happening. Recently after the first DSi enhanced games were released Loopy had mentioned working on them, to take a few random quotes from over the last week or so from the irc channel:

<@loopy_> fun. looks like DSi carts verify all cart data. there's some sort of checksum array over the whole rom <@loopy_> & all cart accesses are interleaved with reads in there... it's checking stuff as it reads. but I think I know a way around it <@_loopy> i've made progress with that Word Games game <Normmatt> _loopy, how goes that dsi cart you were working on? <@_loopy> mostly done. finding hax for it now
A few days after this and bLAStY has relesed a video of a hack running on the DSi in DSi mode. btw the uC isn't needed for the hack that is shown in the video
The Arduino is for dumping the RAM out over SPI. All the wires you see are the SPI signals tapped from the EEPROM that is on all DSi carts (and hold savegames). We sent out the RAM contents over this port into the Arduino, which sent it back to the PC over USB. You don’t need the Arduino or any special hardware to make the actual exploit work.
i don't get what they did exactly, and what it does, they aren't using the camera or anything dsi-special that i noticed? EDIT: nevermind i read there blog it said that they were able to use the full 16mb of ram and there is no way to know we just have to trust them
