Yeah, I read that thread after Logical Thinker linked it. I hope Normmatt is just pissed off for the moment and doesn't cancel it all just cause of that one incident.
Other than that, I always thought Rudolph is a shining beacon for homebrew/hacking... shouldn't he have known better than to piss off Normmatt?
At this point I do not feel the need to be named but I will state that I am greatly involved with AKAIO. I know for a fact that Norm is extremely pissed off about this hack. For awhile we had no idea who did it, but now the truth has come out. AKAIO is worked on daily, and I mean each and every day. Norm and Smiths are constantly updated, fixing, optimizing, recoding, adjusting, etc. AKAIO is made free of charge, given to the public free of charge, and updated free of charge. Finally AKAIO is made for the Acekards as Team Acekard has support Norm and Smiths.
For those who feel that the authors should not be upset of their software being hacked to run on cheaply produced clones consider the information above. Also consider that the clone makers now do not need to support their cards, which means in turn that the clone cards will never push the scene for what a firmware can accomplish on a flash linker.
Thanks to Rudolph who has thrown on his DarkFader black hat, the DS Scene has felt another blow and a demonstration of the useless use of computer skills.
Perhaps Rudolph could spend time trying to get the 3in1+ fully supported instead of hacking a friend’s firmware for a cheap and shoddy clone.
Norm has in fact stopped working on public releases of AKAIO. Solutions have been considered but at this point it may not seem worth it to try to out smart the lamer that is Rudolph. AKAIO had some really special enhancements due out in the next release, none of which will probably ever be made public.
For those of you who support clones, perhaps next time you will do some research. It appears that the n00b who begins on the R4 thread ends up with a clone, when instead they should have asked what to buy and where. The Acekards are superior to the clones in every way. We can go technical specification round for round if need be, or instead people can begin to support Acekard and in turn support AKAIO.
Norm has been made aware of the link to this thread via the public GBATemp Acekard IRC channel. I am sure he will be contacting you to request that you remove the link and the news post. We have already tackled this problem on GBATemp by having the threads closed and the links removed. News which relate to hacking something which has been worked on as hard as AKAIO should never be posted. News Staff should always contact the author when their application and/or homebrew is hacked and request permission to post the news. In some cases, if the hack is beneficial to the advancements of the homebrew, then this news should be posted. In this case the news was posted in bad taste, I’m sure you can agree.
If i see what i consider news somewhere I might post it here, it's as simple as that. To make matters clearer i hardly ever visit GBAtemp these days so i had no idea of what went on there in regards to this mod. I assure you i did not post this in bad taste, but i can imagine that it might come across that way to people from that site.
Also it is not my responsibility to contact an author in respect to posting his software, be that a mod, hack or anything. If the author himself contacts me and requests that a download or post be removed then i will remove the offending material, and i have done so for people in the past.
I will say that to stop work on this because of a hacker seems quite childish to me, more so than the person who hacked it to run on clones. Continue to work on it and keep the firmware internal, this is the more mature way of dealing with it and you can keep your work exclusive to trusted friends.
On a side note only 30 people have downloaded it from here so far.
IMHO the links should be taken away, those gbatemp links have already shown the author wishes.
I know it's pretty stupid to stop AKAIO development just because of the hack, stopping it will hit the AK2i sales much more than the clones, so in the end stopping AKAIO will make more damage to the original AK team.
That said, IMHO Normatt should think again the consequences of him stopping AKAIO public releases, if he really is fond of the original AK team and wants the better for them, then I think that his move is not a good one.
Is this the same rudolph who threw a childish fit when they hacked out the m3 block codes in exploader?
Does anyone not see the absolute irony of the situation? I mean on top of the fact the goal of both pieces of software is to intentionally circumvent the devices/publishers intended method of use? Scene drama ftl.
The mod will spread now even if the links are removed, so it doesnt matter. However the fact that it was Rudolph (the same one who bitched an moaned about his gba-exploader being cracked is hilarious) it's too bad the next release was going to introduce a frequently requested feature too.
lol. Who cares? Norman Matt is the new Queen now, or what?
a---> He likes Open-Source-Software: He should be thankful.
b--> He receives $$$ from crappy Team Acekard: Who cares?
Norman Matt: Free Akaio! Make it availabe to every Flashcard!
It's a bit silly if the King of pirates is now mad because of... well... pirates! lol.
Maybe you can try to do it yourself instead of just talking ****. Normatt isnt mad, is he? I havent read anything about him being angry about it.
And @Normmatt Thanks man! AKAIO is amazing, if this moses guy wants you to make it available to every flashcarT (with T), is because you did a splendid job with AKAIO. My english isnt great but I just wanted you to know what I think about AKAIO.

An Open letter to Normmatt and the AKAIO development team.
"And because of this crack AKAIO is DEAD"
Hmm... So I guess with this, the Acekard is eventually going to end up no better than all those clones out there...
Such a shame really. Maybe I shouldn't have canceled that r4 Ultra order in favor of an Acekard 2.
See, here's what I don't get. I did the research. Maybe I should have done it before placing an order, but it was on a whim very late at night and the point stands, I still did the research. And I don't think I'm the only one.
Now maybe it's just me, but by cutting the project entirely it seems like the only real thing that's accomplished is spitting on the people who support and appreciate all the work that's gone into it. Because the other ones, the ones who went out and bought anything with the name R4 thinking it's gonna be the best thing ever, they're not going to much much more thought into anything ELSE that they do either.
So your wicked software's been pirated. Hmm. Should I cut the irony with a knife, or a goddamn hatchet? Decisions, decisions...
Okay yeah that was a cheap shot, but c'mon. Welcome to the internet. This is not the first time that something has been worked very hard on and been distributed free of charge only to be ripped off by somebody else later. Ever heard of Pokemon Quartz? That T-Shirt of soap that says "Rub me on your butt"? Ebaumsworld?
You are working in part in an industry that thrives on ripping HARDWARE off of each other. Why wouldn't the same thing happen with software? It seems vaguely inevitable, whether from within or without.
And yeah, you got burned. Aww. Haven't you ever had a girlfriend cheat on you before? Betrayal happens. Yeah, it sucks I know, but it happens to all of us. Deal with it.
So help me out with this, because I just don't get it, and believe it or not I would really rather give you the benefit of the doubt here. It doesn't seem like your just burned out on the project. It seems more like Rudolph caused a mess too big for you to find the will to clean up (whatever of it can be cleaned up anyway). If that's the case it's understandable, but it's been gravely mishandled. Because right now from the outside, for all respects and purposes, this is a temper tantrum. This is a child breaking all of their toys so that nobody else will touch them. If that's not what it is it hasn't been made clear, and it really needs to be.
It's funny. For people who dislike clone karts so much, backing down from this seems like the wrong response. I mean there will be a small, insufferable period of time when people will have to use your excellent software on inferior products, but I'm sure they could be locked out again if you wern't scared of the challenge. If those features you're teasing us with are really as good as you say, who knows? You might inspire a few of them to buy legit Acekards just to have access to them. It might be a rosy vision of the future, but it beats the one you've left us with, doesn't it.
You know.
The one where the AceKard, a card that barely supports any of the new games coming out, is choked by clone kit after clone kit. And as for us, all the people using Acekards who did the research and actually appreciated all the hard work being put into this thing called AKAIO... To hell with us. That's what we deserved for one guy ripping of your code and pissing you off, and for other people buying clone karts.
tl,dr
this whole bloody mess got under my skin a bit more than it should have. Ban me for being a wordy jerk if you feel like it.
